Krystian Zimerman is globally acclaimed for his intense playing and is determined at every concert to achieve the highest conceivable level. Het Parool once described him as “one of the very best pianists on the planet.” Zimerman’s recitals are therefore consistently flawless piano evenings, widely regarded in advance as highlights of the season.

Someone who operates at the absolute top level leaves nothing to chance. As one of the few master pianists, Zimerman travels from concert hall to concert hall with his own grand piano and piano technician. His technical knowledge of the instrument and of acoustic conditions is extraordinary: “I understand the piano from the inside, (…) It is almost a human being to me. I know when it is ill and what is wrong with it when I listen to it.”

Following his recital in October 2024, Zimerman returns on Wednesday, September 30 to De Oosterpoort. The works he will perform will be announced at a later date. Or, as he puts it: “I try to announce my programs as late as possible, so that I only decide what I will play when I truly know what I want to play.”
