When you say Vivaldi, you say The Four Seasons, but his Magnificat and Gloria are also among his most beloved works. Both were composed for the Ospedale della Pietà, the girls’ orphanage in Venice, where Vivaldi – the red priest, as his nickname went – worked as a music teacher and composer. Led by conductor Hervé Niquet, the French Le Concert Spirituel presents the works in their original version during this concert: for double women’s choir and double orchestra. Something the company also did on the critically acclaimed 2021 CD.
