Pynarello takes you on a worldly surf trip. Debussy’s famous La Mer flows effortlessly with the sixties sound of Booker T. & the M.G.’s, the surf rock of Texan trio Khruangbin, infectious afrobeat of Nana Adjoa and mystical oriental sounds of Sinan Arat. From raging waves to calm swells, only the musical freethinkers of Pynarello can come up with this!

Debussy’s symphonic portrait of the sea forms the basis of this program, a work that bears striking similarities to a genre that, at first glance, is completely different: American surf rock. This exhilarating, yet always relaxed music immerses the listener in blistering ocean adventures. But we also encounter clouds, the dancing atmosphere and the mysterious sirens from another famous work by Debussy: Nocturnes.

In addition to classical musicians, you will hear and see Pynarelli with other areas of expertise during this concert: Luc Schouten (electric guitar) interprets Debussy’s music with his reverb-drenched surf sound. The soulful Ghanaian music of singer and multi-instrumentalist Nana Adjoa and the playing on the Turkish reed flute of Sinan Arat fit seamlessly with the free-spirited atmosphere of the surf culture
