Dutch underground legends The Ex are returning to VERA! It’s been five years since we saw them for the last time, when they were celebrating their 40-year anniversary.

The Ex was found back in 1979, as a response to the squatters movement of the 70’s. Inspired by British bands like The Fall and Crass, but it didn’t take long until the Dutch band found their own sound. 45 years later, and The Ex’s reputation is one that preceeds them. Always looking forward with their turbulent punk, mixed with avant-garde, jazz and noise, but also taking inspiration from their many musical trips to Ethiopia.

Support Lena Hessels was brought up with many different kinds of music, with the exception of pop. Not a really strange coincidence, considering she’s the daughter of The Ex’s guitarist, Terrie Hessels. But after discovering Taylor Swift at the age of 11, Lena felt herself attracted to the magical world of pop music. Inspired by synthpop of the 80’s and 00’s, Lena Hessels takes us to her hypnotising world full of glitter.
