Bistro Bommen Berend
In the disastrous year of 1672, the Dutch Republic, also known as the United Provinces, was attacked by, among others, the Bishop of Münster, who bombarded Groningen for several weeks. He was consequently nicknamed Bommen Berend, which this bistro, located just around the corner from the Martinikerk and the Grote Markt, is named after.
Since 1962, Bistro Bommen Berend has been providing passersby, locals, students, and tourists with a bite to eat and a drink in the heart of the city. This is possible every day of the week, all day long. From 10:00 to 12:00, you can enjoy breakfast here, for example with warm croissants, eggs or pancakes. For lunch, there is a wide choice, ranging from soups and salads to burgers and various specials. You can also stop by for a cup of coffee or some snacks in between. In the evening, it is possible to dine here with meat, fish, or salads.
In short, a wide choice, every day of the week, at any time of the day, in the heart of the city of Groningen. The kitchen is open from 10:00 to 21:00, and on Sundays, the kitchen closes at 19:00.
