From November 28, 2025, to January 4, 2026, step into the holiday spirit at the most magical Christmas market in the city. From the moment you enter Groningen’s cozy winter living room, you’ll be surrounded by sparkling lights and the comforting scent of hot chocolate, grilled sausages and mulled wine. Winter City transforms the heart of Groningen into a festive wonderland lined with Christmas trees and dazzling decorations.

Wander past stalls filled with handcrafted gifts, delicious treats and seasonal specialties. Warm up by a firepit as you enjoy music and good company. Beyond the Christmas market, there’s plenty to experience: a winter café with live music, an ice rink and numerous activities for children. Take a ride on the Christmas Ride or hop aboard the Christmas train — and if you’re lucky, you may even meet Santa himself!
