Hullabaloo Festival 2024 recap: Highlights and a look ahead to 2025

Hullabaloo 2024

A few weeks ago, we received the exciting news that we were invited to attend the Hullabaloo Festival  on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8 as press! What a delightful surprise!

Hullabaloo 2019 First Edition

I still remember the first Hullabaloo from five years ago (in 2019!). I had bought tickets, but due to circumstances, I couldn’t attend. I believe the lineup was already good back then, but this year’s was truly impressive. Hullabaloo Festival is an annual music festival held in the green Stadspark of Groningen. The festival offers a diverse range of music genres and has grown into one of the largest events in the region over the past five years. Hullabaloo aims for a sustainable and inclusive, yet also a 'blooming' festival experience.

Hullabaloo 2024 Recap

On Saturday, the lineup included Jason Derülo, Kraantje Pappie, and Frenna. On Sunday, it was my turn to experience the festival.

After parking our bikes, we entered the large field through the press entrance on Sunday. Wow, it was impressive. A massive Ferris wheel, an almost real Martinitoren, and lots of trendy food trucks. We enjoyed performances by Son Mieux, Anouk, James Bay, Donnie, and Di-rect. As soon as I walked onto the festival grounds, I could tell this was not going to be a standard party. Everywhere I looked, there were cool things to see. The smell of food from sustainable food trucks made me eager to try everything (and yes, I may have done just that ;-)).

Hullabaloo 2024 Exceeded Expectations

And the art installations – they were interactive, so of course, I had to participate.

I danced in the Silent Disco, enjoyed some good wines, and naturally ran into many friends.

Record Number of Visitors Hullabaloo 2024

With a record number of visitors and an impressive lineup, this Hullabaloo edition once again exceeded the expectations of its attendees. From emerging local talents to international headliners, the program had something for every music lover.

Green Festival! And seriously, they had sustainability completely under control. Reusable cups? Check.

Buzzing Vibes in Groningen

But it wasn’t just the festival grounds that were buzzing. Groningen itself was almost overflowing with visitors. Hotels were full, restaurants and cafes packed with people grabbing a drink before diving back into the festival. Even the museums joined in on the Hullabaloo vibe. It was as if the entire city had turned into one big party and we met a lot of friends!

Looking Ahead to Hullabaloo 2025

And now? Well, I can tell you that I’m already excited for 2025. The organizers are already busy planning for Hullabaloo 2025, and if they had so many surprises for us this year, I can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with next. Bigger, crazier, and even more fun – I’ll be there, and we’ll publish the Hullabaloo 2025 timeline in due course on StayinGroningen.com
