Can You Believe It? Summer Is Almost Over!
Today is Sunday, September 8, 2024, and in exactly 14 days, it will officially be autumn! How did that happen?! Just a few weeks ago, I was standing on a volcano in North Sulawesi, where the sun set around 6:00 PM every day, and the temperature was a dreamy 31°C. Sounds like paradise, right? Well, after 25 days of sweating, we decided it was time to return to our beloved Groningen. Because yes, even tropical paradises can get old (or so they say…).
Now, as the leaves start falling from the trees and the days get shorter (the sun now sets around 8:00 PM!), I have to admit: I love summer, but late summer isn’t so bad either. The city calms down, the tourists leave, and there’s finally time to make new plans!
Looking back on the summer, all I can say is: it flew by. The Noorderzon Festival is the moment you realize: “Oh, that was it.” Everyone goes back to work, and spontaneous plans turn into “check my calendar.” Before Noorderzon, you’d just meet up on a terrace, sipping rosé and chatting about how you survived the summer. But now that everything needs to be scheduled, we’re here to help you plan your late-summer activities. September is far from over!
Upcoming Events Before Autumn Officially Begins:
Here’s a list of awesome events you can still enjoy before fall sets in. Right now, Hullabaloo is happening at the Stadspark, and you can still grab tickets for today! Unfortunately, the Children’s Festival at the Hortus Botanicus is sold out, so if you missed out, better luck next time! For those who have tickets: have a blast with the little ones!
