Urban Trail Groningen 2026: A Unique Anniversary Edition

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, the Urban Trail Groningen celebrates its 10th anniversary. This is not your average running race, but an exploration on sneakers through the most beautiful and hidden spots of the city. Instead of staying on the asphalt, you will run or walk through iconic buildings, museums, theaters, and secret courtyards.

Route Highlights

• Iconic Locations: The 2026 route takes you through the historic Academy Building, the Province House, and the atmospheric Akerk.
• Special Additions: For this jubilee edition, the former Niemeyer tobacco factory and the impressive rooftop of the Groot Handelshuis have been added to the course.
• Distances: Choose between the short route (5-6 km), the long route (10-11 km), or the special anniversary route of 15-16 km.

Start and Accommodation

The start and finish are located at the vibrant Vismarkt. Given the early start times (from 09:00 AM), staying overnight in the city center is highly recommended. Hotels such as The Market Hotel or Hotel de Ville are just a stone's throw away from the starting line.
