URLAND – URLAUB Revisited

English spoken

Welcome to the era of the mental pandemic, ubiquitous pressure, growing uncertainties, and ever more burnouts (who doesn’t know it?). The weary society is overstimulated and hyperactive. Homo economicus markets itself while we quietly shed bitter Prozac-tears. We work under voluntary compulsion and relax in compulsive freedom. Rest becomes unrest.

Too much truth, too much untruth, too many expectations, too much data, too much access, too many friends…

TRANQUILO. WE NEED A BREAK. NUMB US. WE NEED VACATION FROM VACATION.

URLAND disconnects and seeks the meaning of Nothing.

Five years after the original URLAUB, URLAND revisits this Italo-Disco-recreation horror and concludes it has gotten worse: URLAUB Revisited. How do we let go when there is nothing left to hold on to?

About URLAND

URLAND works collectively. URLAND is autonomous. URLAND wants Gesamtkunst. URLAND has no method. URLAND experiments. URLAND is paradoxical. URLAND exists somewhere between artificial and real. URLAND appropriates, quotes, and samples. URLAND clashes. URLAND believes in live art in digital times.

URLAND, an innovative performance collective from Rotterdam, consists of Geräuschmacher Jimi Zoet, Bildermacher Marijn Alexander de Jong, Geschichtenmacher Thomas Dudkiewicz, and a core group of collaborators. URLAND creates eclectic, interdisciplinary performances that clash different styles, forms, and themes — between visual culture and world literature, data and dada, digital oracles and philosophy. URLAND focuses on the fundamental, on storytelling, and on theatricalizing existential narratives that make the elusiveness of contemporary life tangible.
