Christmas City Walk Groningen 2025

On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December, stroll past iconic buildings in the historic city centre of Groningen and experience the Christmas story brought to life. The Christmas City Walk 2025 is a free festive walking tour, perfect for families and open to all.

Choose your own starting time between 15:00 and 20:00 on either day and explore the one-hour route at your own pace.

Each location presents a complete performance of 15–20 minutes. Enjoy choir music with candlelight in the Akerk, contemporary dance by Mind Connected at Palace, theatre with 280° projection and live band in the Forum (Rabo Studio), and a playful family program at House of Connections.

The Stadskerk hosts the event and ensures a smooth flow with stewards, so young and old can move comfortably through the programme.

Walk together, choose your own order, and experience the Christmas story in the heart of the city. For two evenings, Groningen transforms into a living Christmas scene – full of light, connection and wonder.
