Wonderful classic from director Peter Weir (The Truman Show).

Most of the films in Peter Weir's impressive oeuvre, including his classic The Truman Show, are about outsiders. Picnic at Hanging Rock deals with this theme in a specifically Australian way: European-thinking white people know themselves to be strangers in Aboriginal land. The story is about three schoolgirls and a teacher who disappear without a trace The film gives no explanation, is as a whole mostly a haunting and confusing experience. Beautifully constructed by director Weir and beautifully portrayed by Russell Boyd.
