Producer Griffin Mill (Tim Robbins) is convinced that the anonymous threats he is receiving are the work of David Kahane (Vincent D'Onofrio) and tries to make amends with a cocktail. Instead, Griffin kills the screenwriter and runs off with the deceased's girlfriend (Greta Scacchi). While the police investigate, Griffin focuses on a prestigious film that will revive his career. But he soon discovers that David's death has not been forgotten by everyone in Hollywood.

Featuring many film references and cameos from celebrities such as Cher, Jeff Goldblum, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, John Cusack and more, The Player received three Oscar nominations and won three Golden Globe Awards.
