Hoornsterzwaag

Hoornsterzwaag (Frisian: Hoarnstersweach, [ṷa:ⁿstr’svɪ.əx]?, Stellingwerf dialect: Hoornsterzwaog) is a village in the municipality of Heerenveen, in the Dutch province of Friesland. It is located south of Drachten and west of the village of Donkerbroek, along the Schoterlandseweg.

In 2023, the village had 820 inhabitants. The village area also includes a small part of the hamlet of Welgelegen. Hoornsterzwaag cooperates in many areas with the nearby village of Jubbega. The villages share the association Plaatselijk Belang Jubbega–Hoornsterzwaag, founded in 1900, and are therefore often referred to as twin villages.
