Niemeyerfactory

Niemeyer BV has long been a family business, originating from a trade in colonial goods. This trade was established by Meindert Niemeijer on March 25, 1819, just outside the city, selling products from the colonies, including tobacco. The trade in tobacco under the brand 'Het Wapen van Rotterdam' expanded to include tobacco production, bringing both manufacturing and sales under one roof.

On June 27, 1848, Theodorus Niemeijer, the founder’s son, took over the business. Under his leadership, the company started not only producing under its own brand but also manufacturing for other companies, such as 'De Bijenkorf' and 'De Tabakshandel'. Additionally, the business expanded into the production of coffee and tea.

Nowadays, the factory is closed and awaiting a new purpose.
