The St. Joseph Cathedral is an impressive neo-Gothic church in Groningen, built between 1885 and 1887. The cathedral is notable for its tall, slender tower, visible from many parts of the city. Locally, this tower is also nicknamed the "Drunken Man’s Tower" ("Dronkemanstoren") due to its slight lean and striking appearance, which reminds some of a staggering figure. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Joseph and has served as the cathedral of the Diocese of Groningen-Leeuwarden since 1981.
