May Holiday in Groningen – Fun for the Whole Family!

The May holiday in Groningen offers plenty of opportunities for families to enjoy culture, nature, and adventure. In this blog, we'll provide some inspiration for what you can do in Groningen during the May holiday 2025 (April 26 – May 4, 2025).

But first, we all wonder: what's the weather going to be like in Groningen? Can we enjoy the flower market, the flea market, and King's Day outdoors, or should we bring an umbrella?

🌞 Weather in Groningen During the May Holiday

According to Weeronline.nl, during the May holiday in Groningen, we can expect a mix of sun and occasional showers. The first days of the holiday will be cool, with temperatures ranging from 14°C to 19°C. Expect a combination of sun and clouds, with occasional rain showers, so it's wise to bring an umbrella when you're outdoors. After the Easter weekend, temperatures in the north will warm up slightly, with 14°C in the northwest and 18°C in the southeast of Groningen. The sun will appear regularly, but there's also a chance of some rain. It's a great opportunity to plan outdoor activities, such as a bike ride through the Groningen countryside or a walk in the Noorderplantsoen. And we have some great tips for that!

As King's Day (April 26) approaches, the weather in Groningen will become more variable. So, if you plan to be outdoors, it's a good idea to dress warmly and be prepared for rain.

In the second week of the May holiday in Groningen, the chance of drier weather increases, making it a perfect time to enjoy nature and the city.

In short, the weather in Groningen during the May holiday offers a nice mix of sun and rain, ideal for a varied holiday with both indoor and outdoor activities!
