Child-Friendly Hotels in Groningen with Family Rooms or Family Suites

Groningen has a lot to offer for families! There’s plenty to do during school holidays, such as fantastic children’s movies at the Cinema of the Forum Groningen, or a visit to cartoon museum Storyworld. At Martiniplaza, there is often a fun children’s performance or musical to enjoy. In addition, children’s theatre performances can often be booked at the Grand Theatre, the Stadsschouwburg, or De Oosterpoort. If you prefer more artistic activities, you should definitely check out what Kunstpunt has on its program.

When it comes to hotel stays or other accommodations in the city of Groningen, the options are truly endless. Families prefer a family room where children can stay in the same room as their parents. As a family, you simply prefer not to book two separate rooms, especially when the children are still young.

Here is a short list of child-friendly hotels in Groningen that offer family rooms, family suites, or even apartments!

  • The Market Hotel, located on the Grote Markt, is the hotel in the heart of Groningen. For spring break, they offer a special package including a free room upgrade and an extensive breakfast buffet. This hotel is perfect for a city trip to Groningen!
  • The Happy Traveler offers family-friendly apartments. In most rooms, it is possible to add an extra bed for an additional fee. Pretty great, right? During spring break, the Family Apartment with Bunk Bed and the One Bedroom Apartment are still available.
  • At Suite 30 in Groningen, you’ll have a very spacious apartment entirely to yourself. Wonderful, right? You can walk to the city center in approximately five minutes. The Noorderplantsoen (with fun playgrounds) is just around the corner. If you walk through the beautiful park toward the city center, it takes about 10 minutes and along the way you’ll find lovely spots for lunch or a good coffee (to go or on the terrace at Paviljoen Zondag). And bringing a dog? No problem!
  • Flonk Hotel Groningen Centre, located on the Radesingel, puts you within just a few minutes via the Gedempte Zuiderdiep to the Herestraat or the Vismarkt. A wonderful child-friendly hotel with triple rooms, and also 2-bedroom apartments available during spring break.
  • Garde Hotels in Groningen: Hotel Halbert offers family rooms suitable for a family of four. Hotel Corps de Garde offers several room types suitable for three guests. Both hotels are located within the canals of the city of Groningen, and you can walk to the Grote Markt in just a few minutes.

By booking via StayinGroningen, you support the city of Groningen itself — we help local talent with your booking! Now that your reservation is complete, you can create a bucket list of everything you want to do during spring break in Groningen. Want a broader overview? Tips for Active Kids Who Want to Burn Off Energy During Spring Break in Groningen

Some kids just need to burn off energy. And they won’t manage that with a theatre performance — they need to move!

Here are some tips for active children in Groningen:

  • Visit the fun city farm in the Stadspark with a great playground at the Stadspark Groningen. Did you know you can also go on a pony ride here?
  • Visit a climbing gym and let the kids climb to their heart’s content. Groningen has many great climbing halls!
  • Go swimming in a subtropical swimming paradise or simply swim laps in Groningen. The swimming pools in Groningen often have family mornings with extra attention for water fun for the whole family.
  • Visit JumpXL Groningen for trampoline jumping or an indoor playground. This is always a success. For younger children, you can visit Ballorig Groningen or MonkeyTown Groningen.
  • When it’s sunny and dry, spending an afternoon at the Noorderplantsoen is always recommended — there are also nice playgrounds there.
